File → Backup & restore creates a password-encrypted portable backup of downloaded messages and attachments, accounts, drafts, contacts, rules, preferences, signatures, buddy icons and creative artwork. Embedded mail pictures are included; the separate remote-picture cache stays on its original PC. It is ANIMAIL’s backup format, not an Outlook PST file.
A fresh device. Familiar company.
Install ANIMAIL on the other Windows device, choose Restore and review the backup. Keep the backup password safe: it is needed to unlock the file. Your provider may require you to sign in again.
A careful landing.
Restored profiles start offline. Unsent messages and pending host actions are held for review. A recovery copy retains the previous profile while you check the result. Keep your original files and backup until you are happy with the move.
Mail that stays available offline.
Complete downloaded MIME messages and attachments live in the local ANIMAIL-Mail.sqlite file. Normal reading and export work without an internet connection. From version 0.12.43 the active mail file is encrypted with a key protected by your Windows profile. Portable backups have their own password encryption and carry the mail key for restore. A copied SQLite file by itself is not a portable backup.
A LITTLE LESS ORDINARY.
